Terms of Use

Updated: โ€” ยท Terms governing the use of the Insulin Buddy service and its browser application.

1. Service provider

The Insulin Buddy service (the "Service") is provided by Santos Life Oy (Business ID 1982976-7, the "Provider"). Contact: tuki@insulinbuddy.fi.

2. Purpose and target group

The Service is intended for illustrating mealtime insulin dosing for children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes. The Service may be used solely for personal, non-commercial purposes.

3. Medical disclaimer

Insulin Buddy is not a medical device within the meaning of the EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR 2017/745), and it does not replace the instructions of a treating physician, diabetes nurse, or other healthcare professional.

The numeric suggestions provided by the app are based on the settings entered by the user and on mathematical formulas. All dosing decisions must, without exception, be confirmed against the personal instructions received from the treating diabetes clinic.

The user confirms, when starting to use the Service, that they understand this limitation.

4. User responsibilities

5. Intellectual property rights

The Service, its appearance, and its implementation are the property of the Provider or licensed to the Provider. The user receives a limited, non-exclusive right to use the Service in accordance with these terms. The open-source components used in the app (including LoopKit-based parts) are governed by their original licenses.

6. Limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" without any warranty of any kind. The Provider is not liable for damages arising directly or indirectly from use of the Service, including (but not limited to) incorrect dosing suggestions, service interruptions, or loss of data, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.

The Provider's liability is limited to no more than the amount the user may have paid for the Service during the preceding 12 months.

7. Changes and availability of the Service

The Provider has the right to change the Service, its content, or its availability. Material changes will be communicated within a reasonable time where possible. Use of the Service may occasionally be unavailable due to maintenance or technical faults.

8. Governing law and dispute resolution

These terms are governed by the laws of Finland. Disputes are primarily resolved through negotiation. If no agreement is reached, disputes are settled in the District Court of Helsinki, unless mandatory consumer protection legislation provides otherwise. A consumer always has the right to refer the matter to the Consumer Disputes Board.

9. Changes to these terms

The Provider may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated to the user by email or by an in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the changes.
