This Privacy Policy applies to the Insulin Buddy application (iOS and Android) and its marketing website insulinbuddy.fi.

2. Insulin Buddy does not collect personal data

Insulin Buddy is designed to run entirely on the user's device. The app does not create user accounts, does not require login, does not send any data to servers, does not collect analytics, and does not display advertisements.

3. What data the app stores and where

All values entered by the user – carbohydrate ratios, insulin sensitivity factor (ISF), glucose targets, previous insulin doses (used for insulin-on-board calculations), active insulin time (DIA), and language and theme preferences – are stored exclusively on the user's own device:

• iOS: Capacitor Preferences plugin (Apple's NSUserDefaults)
• Android: Capacitor Preferences plugin (SharedPreferences)
• Web browser: the browser's localStorage

None of this data ever leaves the device. All data is permanently deleted when the user uninstalls the application.

4. Network connectivity

After the initial download, the application is fully usable offline. The app makes no network requests containing user data. The only network activity is application updates delivered through the App Store or Google Play in the standard operating-system way.

5. Children's data

Insulin Buddy is designed for children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes. Because the app does not collect any personal data, COPPA (United States, for users under 13) and GDPR-K (European Union, for users under 13) impose no additional obligations. Parental consent for use of the app is not required because no data leaves the device.

6. Medical disclaimer

Insulin Buddy is intended solely for educational and illustrative purposes. The app does not replace the instructions of a treating physician or diabetes care team. Always follow the guidance of your diabetes clinic.

7. User rights under GDPR

Because the app does not collect or process personal data on servers, the rights granted by GDPR (Articles 15–22) – access, rectification, erasure, portability, restriction, and objection – are exercised directly on the user's own device: deleting the app removes all data immediately and permanently.

You also retain the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Finland: the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman, tietosuoja.fi.

8. User rights under CCPA (California residents)

Since Insulin Buddy does not collect, sell, or share personal information, the rights granted by CCPA – to know, to delete, to opt out of sale, and to non-discrimination – are automatically satisfied. No request mechanism is required because no personal information leaves the device.

9. Marketing website (insulinbuddy.fi)

The marketing website does not collect personal data from visitors and uses no analytics or advertising cookies.
